Abstract
The Inspire Directive aims to establish up to the year 2019 a "spatial information infrastructure in Europe". Essentially, it is the idea to bind all the geodata from each of the EU's national authorities dealing with geospatial information. To realize this project, standards have to be defined, software systems to be developed and integrated, to come to an interoperability of the geospatial information of all the data providers from the different administrative levels (municipalities, federal states, national agencies, etc.). Up to now, many developments are on the way, first results are visible. Within the speech, the background of the Inspire initiative and the recent status of the developments in Europe will be discussed.
